For the past year, I haven't watched that movies, except for the recent summer months. They started becoming interesting, and I've been to the movie theater at least once every 2 weeks. I can just feel the money flying out of my pocket.
Kung Fu Panda, Wanted, Incredible Hulk, Don't Mess with the Zohan, Hancock, Wall-E so far. Out of all those, I liked Kung Fu Panda the most. It was beautifully done, and I'm a huge kung fu movie fan. It really did do things right, and didn't disappoint. I'm not even a Jack Black fan.
I want to watch Get Smart, Journey to the Center of the Earth (I'll watch almost anything if it's 3D :P), Hellboy II, and the Dark Knight. And I still haven't seen the new Indy Jones movie.
The anime offers a good change of pace to the strange mix I'm watching this season. Cool and calm with action where drama is necessary to keep up the pace. I'll be watching in it until the season ends.
Cirque du Soleil's Ka, playing at MGM Grand in Las Vegas seemed to have more passion and and emotion (not to mention story) than "O" that plays at the Bellagio.
The set really swallows you up from the minute you are ushered to your seat, the music was engaging (I was humming it down the escalators after the show), and it looked like every seat in the house was a good seat. There's romance, plenty of acrobatics and hold-your-breath stunts, some wushu battles, spices of capoeira, okay, I'll stop stop stop and try not to spoil it. I watched this before I watched "O", and think it was the right choice to do so. But Ka really had an impact on me, so I got the photo-heavy collector's program that has some of the story written inside. Great show.
At the beginning, we heard an announcement saying that there was use of harmless smoke, but walking out of the show, I had a whomping headache that lasted a few hours that coffee just couldn't cure.
I spent a week out of town. Saw some great sights, had some great eats, visited a relative and saw some great shows. That said, I'm tuckered out from riding the public transportation and am happy to home sweet home in Seattle.
By the way, if you happen to be heading to Vegas, these were some of the most memorable stops:
- Chocolate Swan at Mandalay Place in Mandalay Bay (Chai Latte + Vanilla Frozen Custard + Gateau Cake)
- Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay
- The Garden display in the Bellagio (when in the desert, the sight of flowers is very welcome)
- Mon Ami Gabi in front of Paris (you can score an evening view of the Bellagio fountains out on the alfresco dining area)
- Cirque du Soleil's "O" at the Bellagio
- Cirque du Soleil's "Ka" at MGM Grand
- Motion Rides at the Excalibur (for silly fun)
This trip I missed out on the "Tribute to Queen" show at the Fremont Street Experience, so that was a bit of a bummer. I also passed on the rides atop the Stratosphere this time around. I think I made the right choice. :)
<< Tsuyo's (244 ENDLI-x) song Kurikaesu Haru is really nice. I like this techno-flavored song of his. :) You can still hear his distinct voice. When he hits that flat note in the opening, ahhh~ suteki~
In the music video, the character is basically Tsuyo, you can tell by the hair and clothes. I like this style.
<< I just saw Iron Man in the theaters. This was a very impressive movie. The casting of the main characters was pretty good and I really enjoyed Tony Stark's dialogue. It kind of kept up the pace of the movie on its own. I recommend it if you are concerned about the level of Marvel movies lately (cough...spiderman 3 and the jazz club scene).
<< You can also see the Incredible Hulk trailer with Ed Norton which looks impressive as well. I think the general audience will like this more than the previous Hulk movie. It's less fun and a little more serious. Of course it shows off some real Hulk madness against some more realistic opponents (do you recall a certain huge mutant poodle?).
I just saw Planet B-Boy and it's full of energy and almost seems like a behind-the-scenes Battle of The Year video during the second half. It's the editing that keeps it from feeling too reality-tv and it brings home the nature and lifestyles of bboys. It's footage from the 2005 BOTY show, and several of the teams that took part of it. The documentary got me very excited and I hope to see more in-depth coverage of bboying in the future. Here's the Planet B-Boy site
<< Here is a clip of one of my favorite performancesby Ichigeki. I also like Last for One's show, too.Very natural and not too serious.
What do you do EVERY day to take care of the earth's environment? What could you do more of?
I recycle every scrap of paper I manage to come across in my apartment and use paperless billing and direct deposits. Even the little toilet paper cardboard tubes are recycled.
I want to try composting, but don't have a garden. But a friend's sister has a garden, so I might suggest starting a compost and giving it to her. I heard it cuts down on garbage, puts more natural materials in gardens and I don't have to use electricity on my disposal as much.
<< It's finally out and it's awesome: Mario Kart Wii. I wish the Grand Prix allowed multiplayer, but oh well. I guess two player online in 12-player races should make up for it. Looking forward to the tourneys and unlockables, but for some reason I don't want to touch the battles modes. I guess I just want to see these awesome courses.
I've overdosed on all the hype and articles and reviews and screenshots. It's worth the wait, though! :)
<< Gunglinger Girl il Teatrino, compared to the first doesn't have the calmness, class and sincerity that the first series did. In the first episodes we see more emotion and less reserve from the "main character" Henrietta. Her shyness and seriousness was pretty endearing in the first season. Another favorite of mine was Triela (love the suits, by the way). The episode that featured her going up against Pinocchio (stay with me on this) was unexpected and felt like the series was a bit more back to the feel of the original series' with the complexities that only these girls can experience. I miss the OP and ED these of the first series, though. I don't really care for the ones used on il Teatrino at all. They haven't grown on me after 6 episodes. oh well. Will still watch because it looks like we'll get back to more gunslinging.
I just finished this anime the other day. The pace really picked up in the last few episodes and I... read more
